National Home Ownership Month 2023

June is designated as National Homeownership Month and this year marks the 21st anniversary of the ongoing commitment to helping families and individuals achieve their dream of homeownership. The Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD), including the Federal Housing Administration (FHA), continues to focus on its longstanding commitment and central role in providing accessible, affordable, and equitable homeownership opportunities to Americans nationwide.

NHM is a time for the Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) and the Federal Housing Administration (FHA) to demonstrate our ongoing commitment to our mission – to create strong, sustainable, inclusive communities and quality affordable homes for all.

Homeownership is the primary source of generational wealth for individuals and families in the nation. That’s why we are working to address the racial inequities and systematic issues that have made owning a home unattainable for first-time homebuyers, low- and moderate-income households, and communities of color.

This year the focus is on the importance of housing counseling, an essential tool that can empower prospective homebuyers with the education and resources they need to become successful homeowners.

To mark the month, HUD is launching “Let’s Make Home the Goal,” a nationwide, multi-year campaign to generate awareness of the availability and benefits of pre-purchase housing counseling provided by HUD-certified housing counselors.

KCEOC Community Action Partnership believes everyone should have the opportunity to experience the security of homeownership. Through KCEOC’s Homeownership Program clients can gain access to sustainable  homeownership through housing counseling, sound lending, flexible underwriting, and financial planning. KCEOC is an equal opportunity housing provider. At the core of our mission is the belief that everyone deserves the chance to live with security, dignity, and hope in a place they can call home. This is why we are committed to doing everything we can to address critical housing supply and affordability challenges, while working to advance affordable homeownership opportunities that ultimately serve as a means to unlock generational wealth-building potential.

KCEOC offers 3 HUD-Certified housing counselors specializing in pre-purchase, post purchase, non-delinquency post-purchase, and rental counseling.
