National CACFP Award

KCEOC Community Action Partnership is proud to announce that Michelle Johnson has been awarded dual certification by the National CACFP Sponsors Organization.  The CACFP Management Professional and CACFP Child Nutrition Professional certifications are designated for demonstrating commitment to and experience with the Child and Adult Care Food Program and willingness to uphold high standards of continued education in CACFP Child Nutrition and CACFP Professional Management.

Michelle Johnson has been the Nutrition Specialist for KCEOC Community Action Partnership for 39 years.  KCEOC operates the Child Development Program in 6 counties in Southeastern Kentucky providing Head Start services to 1028 children; all of whom are enrolled in the CACFP Program that is managed by Michelle.

Michelle Johnson keeps abreast of all requirements of the CACFP Program by attending the annual state training administered by the Kentucky Department of Education.  She trains all staff on how to complete the required documentation in regard to CACFP enrollment; she trains the cooks on CACFP Regulations, food handling, menu and production records, meal patterns and modifications, etc.  As the Nutrition Specialist, she also conducts monitoring reviews of all KCEOC sites that participate in the CACFP Program.  She is also responsible for providing all documentation to submit CACFP claims for reimbursement.

Michelle Johnson has managed the program very successfully for 39 years.  These certifications are special designations for those in the CACFP profession that are committed to continually learning best practices and keeping up with changing trends in the field. This is a great achievement and reflects her dedication to upholding high standards for the profession.
